Influences:
The first thing that becomes apparent when you first click on one of monstermatts tracks is that this artist is not your usual ‘run of the mill’ mc. I have to say being new to the site and monstermatt being my first review it (hopefully) says a lot for the standards set here on dopetracks.com ............................................... The first track i clicked was the latest one he had posted recorded 1 day ago THE 3 MADD MEN,MONSTER,BOLO,LOKWAN I am not sure if the beat used was mad by monstermatt himself but this sets the perfect atmospehere and seems like it was made for him. matt steps into the track perfectly painting a picture of an old ghostly ringmaster completely in charge of his domain. His Lyrics are masterly put together as if they were conceived at exactly the same time as the beat was produced. all in all this track had my head nodding and was a completely refreshing break from the norm the originality and creative ideas used by all three mcs were executed masterfully. the next track i chose was from page 5 of his tracks (as he has 10 pages of tracks i chose the middle page) recorded 6 months ago ‘BE ORIGINAL feat my uk alias lord frances arbuckle’ In this track matt assumes the guise of one Lord Frances Arbuckle using an english accent for his flow, i wasnt sure when the beat first started but When frances’s voice came on an instant smile crept across my face and didnt leave it until the song was over, EVERYTHING about this song pleased me the lyrics, the timing, the beat, the message (be original), I continued to look through monstermatts hoping to find something that i could critique negatively in order to give matt some good feedback but VERY honestly i could not. SO in conclusion I wasnt expecting to find someone like monstermatt on this site ESPECIALLY for my first review but i did and i HAVE to say this artist is one of the most talented, original, intelligent artists i have ever come across. every track i listened to just made me question more and more why this man is not signed to a record label earning millions. I can see why monstermatt is the hot mc of the day . and it bodes very well for the rest of the site because if the next artist i review is half as good it will be another good review. JUST to let the rest of you know i wouldnt normally be this kind in a review but as i previously said i couldnt find anything negative in any of monstermatts music. so PLEASE monstermatt never stop making music and it was a privelidge looking through your tracks. you are a genius and exactly what hiphop needs right now.
